The cover had me drawn in. The synopsis is what held my attention though. I was intrigued and couldn't wait to start reading.
Jody is recently divorced and is having a vacation with her three besties. What better way to have a vacation right? They are going on a cruise. Before she can even get on the damn cruise ship her shoe gets caught in the metal of the gangway. What luck right!? Anywho she is trying desperately to wiggle the damn thing loose, with no luck until finally it pops out. In the process it sends her shoe flying in the air and about to end up in the ocean, although a man rescues it. Filled with relief, Jody didn't want to walk onto the ship with one shoe. A hunky man in a suit walks up to her and hands her the shoe. From the very beginning you can tell they have a connection.
Now here is where I have my problem with the story. I get having a connection with a person, and I know about one night stands…however I never expected to read about Jody trying to avoid a man and then out of know where basically jumps all over him in a hallway and then takes it to a laundry room. In a matter of hours of meeting. I know I know…I just didn't find it tasteful in a sense I guess. Don't get me wrong the story turned around for me. Their little fling on the ship got intense and then they had to depart when it was over. They agreed on no contact, but of course Taggart couldn't stay away. He found a way to contact her and he did just that. Then out of no where shows up at her doorstep. Romantic or a little creepy?? I'll go with romantic. He meets her son and dad, see her artwork etc. She ends up visiting him in Florida after his visit, but things don't go quite as well this time.
A month goes by and then she sees him again with another woman. Is this a new woman? Do they end up back together? That is something you will have to find out on your own by picking it up and reading it for yourself.
I rate Sail Away with Me 3.8 stars.
