Synopsis

If you could do it all over again, would you still choose him? At age thirty-nine, Lucie Walker has no choice but to start her life over when she comes to, up to her knees in the chilly San Francisco Bay, with no idea how she got there or who she is. Her memory loss is caused by an emotional trauma she knows nothing about, and only when handsome, quiet Grady Goodall arrives at the hospital does she learn she has a home, a career, and a wedding just two months away. What went wrong? Grady seems to care for her, but Lucie is no more sure of him than she is of anything. As she collects the clues of her past self, she unlocks the mystery of what happened to her. The painful secrets she uncovers could hold the key to her future—if she trusts her heart enough to guide her.

MY REVIEW

Love Water Memory is the first book i've ready from Jennie Shortridge.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

From the very start of this book your pretty much pulled in. I mean who wouldn't be after finding out a woman was found knee deep in the San Francisco Bay, and has no idea how she got there. She remembers nothing. Come to find out she has dissociative fugue, but what caused it?? How long has she been missing? Who is she? All of these questions come to mind and leave you turning page after page to try and find out.

Lucie is her name, and come to find she actually has a fiancé named Grady and they are to be married in two months. Well that is before she ran away. When Lucie returns home to Seattle of all places. ( I couldn't help but laugh because I live 30 minutes from Seattle. I live in Lakewood, WA. WA is beautiful, but it is rainy!) Once returning to her home she stays in the guest bedroom. Now by this point even though it's still early on I feel horrible for Grady. Lucie has to start over basically, trying to figure out who she is. When she learns of the person she was it completely upsets her. She was cold and heartless and cared a lot about material things. Her parents died when she was younger and her only living relative her aunt Helen she doesn't talk to. She doesn't have any friends. It's sad really. Makes you wonder why in the world Grady was with her in the first place.

Lucie goes for walks now instead of running every morning. She befriended their neighbor who at one point she would just totally ignore. She cooks even though it's not good. Grady ends up getting hurt (breaking his right foot and bruising his left during a swimming accident) She takes care of him, which apparently before she wouldn't do. She's being the woman that Grady has always wanted her to be in a way.

Meanwhile her aunt Helen has seen the news and is trying to get ahold of her. She knows exactly what triggered her memory loss, but nobody is listening to her. They think she is crazy. Her aunt contacts Grady at his job at boeing. She leaves him her name and number, which he puts in his briefcase. Lucie was snooping one day and found the number, but she thought he was cheating on her.  When he told her it was her aunt she got completely upset.
She contacts her aunt and they end up meeting. Lucie learns about her past. It's just not the answer she's looking for. Or is it??

Lucie and Grady have to basically start over with their relationship. Grady is falling in love with the woman she is now, but at the same time is mourning the loss of the woman she was. He's conflicted. I love Grady, he's completely sweet and beyond patient with Lucie.

When you find out what happened to make her lose her memory your pretty shocked. It's really sad. I had a pretty good idea as to the trigger…but it kinda shocked me that Lucie still couldn't figure it out.

Love Water Memory is told from the POV of Lucie, Grady, and her aunt Helen. It's a good story, and I hope you'll decided to pick it up and read for yourself.

I rate Love Water Memory 4 stars!
