However, power isn’t always pleasurable, especially considering that it’s my responsibility to keep my reckless brothers and sister from jeopardizing us all.
When an old enemy emerges from the shadows, Uncle Sebastian calls in another fighting family to assist. I didn’t need their help. I could independently protect my siblings and the rest of the world from danger. That was, until I met Lilith Shaw. Now I’m not even sure that I can protect myself.

James has gone and done it again!!! I absolutely loved it.
" Death was nothing but an insignificant, passing moment behind the walls of Whitestone Manor. Sadly, the same could of been said about life."
There is absolutely nothing, and I mean nothing that James can't write. Whether it be historical, romance, suspense, action, paranormal, you name it and she can write it. She does a phenomenal job at drawing you into the story and keeping you there. This is a suspenseful romantic read, with a bit of paranormal. Plenty of twists and turns, that will keep you flipping page after page. You'll be dying to know what happens next. You'll want to know all of the Winters family secrets.
Orson Winters is the oldest of the Winters children. He has so much on his shoulders, since their parents died ten years ago it's been him taking care of his siblings. Grayson, Ellison, and Pierson. They ended up moving in with their estranged uncle, at Whitestone Manor. It's a home that may seem perfect from the outside, but the inside hold secrets. Secrets nobody would want to know about.
" I think they would be proud that we're strong, brave, and hardworking. We've stuck together, which was always important to them. And, no matter what else we do, we'll honor their memory by staying together. No one will separate us." My only fear was to lose them. " You understand me?"
They are fighters. Fighters that protect the world from cults, cults that worship satan. The Masterson Brotherhood are doing everything they can to be joined with the head of evil. The Sons of the Serpent. They scare the crap out of me. I won't lie. Lol. It's The Winters family job to get rid of these cults. Stop them from every joining The Sons of the Serpent. Heck, even get rid of them. The family is being followed. Uncle Sebastian who is already high strung, has been even more so lately. Something just doesn't feel right. He calls in help from another fighting family. The Shaw family. Who needs that families help? Certainly not Orson. He can protect his siblings as well as the world without help. That is until he actually meets Lilith Shaw. This girl is a firecracker!!!!! I absolutely love her. She challenges Or. at every turn. They are drawn to one another from the very beginning. However, there is no room for love when your a fighter... or is there??
Lilith Shaw is a wonderful leading lady. I couldn't help but laugh at her banter, and the way she acted around and towards Orson. Heck even Grayson for that matter. She's independent and certainly doesn't need any man to protect her.
" I took a deep breath and grabbed a buggy, ready to give her a good tongue lashing, " If you can't say anything nice, you shouldn't say anything at all. Did you parents never teach you that, Ms. Shaw?"
" Yes. They also taught me how to spot a true stuck in the mud. You, Mr. Winters, definitely are one. And, you'll have a hard time convincing me otherwise."
I've come to find James always has a strong leading lady.
Secrets Of Whitestone Manor is pact full of actions. There will be questions, and you'll turn page after page to try and get the answers. It's wonderful. Certainly keeps you on your toes, and may even have you a bit creeped out. Especially if your reading in the dark, in a quiet house, and your all alone. Hahahahaha. Yes, that was me. My husband was on CQ duty, and I was doing some late night reading alone. I got to a certain point in the book and every noise after had me jumping.
" Everything I had lost with the death of my parents, everything I had sacrificed to keep what family I still had together, everything I had missed in order to fight. It was all suddenly worth it. And with her kiss burning on my lips, I knew she felt it, too."

Brittany Jo James was born and raised in the small town of Idabel, Oklahoma. She is happily married to her high school sweetheart, Conlee, who is currently serving as an airman in the United States Air Force. They share two rowdy sons, Jagger and Jett.
